This year we have a fantastic lineup of interactive exhibitions and museums, all free with your entrance.

ENGLISH HERITAGE: Bringing the story of England to life for over 10 million people a each year. English Heritage cares for over 400 historic buildings, monuments and sites – from world-famous prehistoric sites to grand medieval castles, from Roman forts on the edges of the empire to a Cold War bunker.

THE ROYAL SIGNALS MUSEUM: Bringing an exciting range of fun, interactive STEM activities for schools groups and families to demonstrate Interactive Communication, Interception and Electronic Warfare. Discover the art of the secret agent with Flags and Lamps, Codes and Code Breaking, OWL Spy Training, Radio maze and Cyber Security Challenge.

THE HAWKER TYPHOON PRESERVATION GROUP: Aiming to preserve and protect a Hawker Typhoon Mk. 1B (RB396) and return her to full working order. This will be the only Hawker Typhoon flying today. It will advance the education of the public in Hawker Typhoon aircraft and their crews for the benefit of British heritage, remembrance and historical knowledge.

WATERLOO UNCOVERED: Get hands-on with Battle of Waterloo archaeology and hear about the work of this charity that is rewriting the history of one of the world’s most famous battles, while changing the lives of modern day soldiers and veterans. There will be activities for the whole family running throughout the weekend, including a Napoleonic wargame.

CRANBORNE CHASE AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY Discover the exciting, new ‘Time Traveller’ app bringing the incredible heritage of this area alive, together with activities for all ages.

ENGLISH SPEAKING UNION At the Festival for Schools ESU trainers will be leading a series of short “Discover Your Voice” workshops to introduce students to public speaking and to develop communication skills.

SAVED (SHAFTESBURY ABBEY A VOYAGE OF EXPLORATION AND DISCOVERY): Julian Richards will give an up-to-the minute account of SAVED, an HLF-funded community project which is using radar survey and volunteer-dug test pits to investigate the Abbey and Saxon town of Shaftesbury, with some surprising results.

STATIC DISPLAYS Sherman tank, American M4 High speed gun tractor, 90mm Anti-aircraft guns among others.
