INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE TRADERS AT CHALKE VALLEY HISTORY FESTIVAL 

New Site Address – Church Bottom, Broad Chalke, Wiltshire SP5 5DS 

Monday 25th June to Sunday 1st July 2017 

The Festival takes place in the new setting of Church Bottom, Broad Chalke, Wiltshire SP5 5DS, on the Wiltshire/Dorset border. This is an organic working farm, all services have to be brought in and dogs are not permitted on any part of the site or car park.

Each application is assessed on its own merit. The presentation and appearance of your stall is important, as are the goods you are proposing to sell so please give as much information as possible including photographs of your pitch and products.

Although we try to have some uniformity, each food stall is priced individually, based on the location, the number of staff, the size of stall, the products being sold and if the organisation is sponsoring an event. See the price guide below.

VISITOR NUMBERS 

The Schools Festival runs from Tuesday to Thursday during normal school hours. Schools are invited to visit for activities, demonstrations and talks. During this time there are generally around 1000 children on site daily.

Public Opening Times are Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 1pm / Weds 4pm / Sat & Sun 9am. We expect around 2,000 visitors to attend talks during the evenings. This means that during the talks, timed at around an hour, there will be a hiatus in trading, however during the intervals, trade will be lively. There is a pre-booked dining tent that holds up to 400 visitors, but fast food is required for those who have not had the foresight to pre-book. Generally, 5pm to 9pm are the busiest times.

Friday (9am – 10pm) is the quietest visitor day; however, there will be around 15,000 visitors on site during Saturday and Sunday (9am – 10pm).

There are two available applications, one for food vendors, one for non-food traders. Non-food traders will be located inside a shopping marquee that will be open on Saturday & Sunday. Please see the price guide below. Please note there are no outside non-food trading pitches available.

IS THERE ANYTHING I AM NOT ALLOWED TO SELL? 

Any form of alcohol cannot be sold without prior authorisation. The operation of the bar and sales of all alcohol or liquor is the sole responsibility of CVHF. Any person found breaching the licensing laws will be removed from the site.

CAN I APPLY FOR A STALL ON BEHALF OF A NON RETAIL, MARKETING, OR CHARITABLE ORGANISATION? 

All our efforts are devoted to Chalke Valley History Trust, of which Chalke Valley History Festivals Limited is a subsidiary. Space is at a premium and we are unable to invite charity or marketing stalls unless part of a sponsorship arrangement.

FOOD VENDORS 

You are required to book for the duration of the Festival which is Monday 25th June to Sunday 1st July 2018. However, there are times during the Schools Festival and week days when trade is not so busy and it is entirely your decision whether you have staff on site.

The weekend is a very busy time, but also 2pm to 9pm weekdays there are over 2,000 visitors on site and we would ask that you are open to trade during these times.

GENERAL RETAIL 

Inside Stall Holders 

These pitches are for retailers, within a carpeted shopping marquee that will be open for trading from 2pm on Friday 29th June, 9am to 6pm on Saturday 30th & Sunday 1st July 2018. The minimum space is 2m frontage with a standard 2m depth. The cost is £120 per metre frontage, therefore the minimum space costs £240 + VAT for the duration of the weekend. We will supply a 6ft table and chairs, however an additional £75 + VAT will be charged per electric socket, if required.

WI-FI & PHONE SIGNAL 

There is little or no phone reception on site, however there is public wi-fi. For those traders who take payments via a mobile device, we strongly recommend you contact Event WiFi & Communications. CAMPING 

There is a delightful camp site adjacent to the car park and traders receive a reduced rate of £10 per person per night. Camper vans are permitted but caravans are not. There is an independent caravan park not far away.
