The dates of the next festival are Wednesday 23rd – Sunday 27th June 2021.
Festival Site opening times:
Wednesday – 15:00 – 22:30
Thursday – 09:30 – 22:30
Friday/Saturday – 09:30 – 23:00
Sunday – 09:30 – 19:00
Sorry no dogs on site – even in the car park!
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please do not bring alcohol – there is a fantastic bar.
There will not be a physical Festival for Schools this year.
Instead, the festival will be creating a wealth of specifically generated content ready for the start of the academic year in September. This will include filming curriculum-based talks from leading academics and historians relevant for students in Years 10 and 12, and also delivering a mass of filmed material for Years 6, 7, and 8. In this way the festival will provide a long-term, free digital resource in line with the aims of the Chalke Valley History Trust.
Chalke Valley History Festival Site
Broad Chalke, Near Salisbury, Wiltshire SP5 5DP
The Festival site is on a working farm on the southern edge of Broad Chalke. The nearest towns are Salisbury (9 miles to the east) and Shaftesbury (12 miles to the west) and Blandford (18 miles to the south).
Driving – there will be a one-way system in place so please allow extra time, especially at the weekend, to reach the Festival.
Please follow the signs to the Festival rather than your SatNav – this is very important.
Trains run to Salisbury every 1/2 hour from London (please allow at least 45 minutes to the Festival).
Number 29 bus runs between Salisbury and Shaftesbury (Mon-Sat). There is a request stop by the Church then follow signs. The walk to the Festival is about a third of a mile.
