Thank you very much for your interest in volunteer photography opportunities for the History Festival. The Festival is only able to exist due to the army of volunteers who come together every year in order to create something special.

We are looking for keen photographer(s) who would relish the opportunity to capture something a bit different for their portfolio, as well as enjoy working as part of a team. As part of the media team, the opportunity is to capture images for use by the media and marketing teams, including portraits of speakers; the schools festival; living history activities; reportage-style shots of talks, crowds and general festival happenings.
To apply, please provide your details below. Applicants will be reviewed based on availability and examples of work.

We aim to contact all applicants by the end of Feb.

  • Availability in part or full, during the week 24th June 2019 – 30th June 2019
  • Your own kit – a decent zoom lens as well as a 35mm (or equivalent) for the wider crowd shots
  • Experience of shooting large events / crowds / portraits / reportage an advantage
  • A great eye for a shot – something fun, creative and a bit different is always welcome
  • We would require full, unrestricted, reproduction rights and use of images
  • A full shot-list of required images will be discussed and agreed in advance
  • Many images are used during the festival week on social media and website channels, so a fast turn-around of images is required. This will involve working with the media team daily to supply images in suitable format for use.
  • Image credit when used in print or digital
  • ‘Media Team’ pass giving access to the festival and talks
  • Lunch / dinner in the staff canteen during the hours you are working
  • Reasonable travel expenses refunded
